Follow up on Home made peppermint bark!
It’s absolutely yummy! Exactly like I remember from when I was a kid. I do think next year I’ll do 2 things different.
1 I’ll use a real white chocolate instead of vanilla bark. Though the end result was fine and not overwhelming at all in vanilla taste.
2 I’ll use bigger pieces of peppermint. Don’t get it to small and coat the melted chocolate to much with the peppermint. I think I used to much of the peppermint dust. More is not always better. =)
This is one recipe that is going into my Christmas recipes. Every year we do cookies and fudge; next year it’s going to be cookies, fudge and peppermint bark.
So if you’re looking for a simple recipe to make it more Christmassy around your house this is one!
1 package white chocolate morsals - or - 1 package white/vanilla almond bark 12-20 peppermint candies or candy canes broken up into pieces. (about 1/4 cup pieces.)
Break up candy by sandwiching between two paper plates in a single layer. Hammer into pieces. Set aside while you melt the chocolate. Spread melted chocolate onto a waxed or tin foil covered cookie sheet. Sprinkle the peppermint pieces onto the melted chocolate. Let cool and break into bite size pieces!
P.s. The kids get a kick out of beating the candy up! Make it fun but expect a mess.
